Like most website operators, Top Schools Ltd (TSL) collects non-personally-identifying information of the sort that web browsers and servers typically make available, such as the browser type, language preference, referring site, and the date and time of each visitor request. Our purpose in collecting this information is to better understand how our visitors use its website. From time to time, we may release such information in the aggregate, e.g., by publishing a report on trends in the usage of its website.

TSL also may also collect potentially personally-identifying information like Internet Protocol (IP) addresses for logged in users. We only disclose logged in user and commenter IP addresses under the same circumstances that it uses and discloses personally-identifying information as described further on.

Membership & Email

By joining our site as a member, you are automatically added to our mailing list. We promise we will not publish, share, or sell your email address in any way. We hate spam just as much as you do and will not spam your email. We will only send you our regular newsletter, invitations to events (from TSL and our partners/advertisers) and occasional other messages. You will always have the option to opt-out of our emails.

Business Transfers

If TSL, or substantially all of its assets, were acquired, or in the unlikely event that TSL goes out of business or enters bankruptcy, user information would be one of the assets that is transferred or acquired by a third party. Separately from using the website, we will request personal data from clients and other parties. The personal data we collect will be handled by our staff, kept confidential and used by Top Schools Ltd (“we” or “us”) for lawful and relevant purposes including but not limited to:

assessing the suitability of applicants (students) for various schools
assessing the suitability of applicants (candidates) for employment positions
processing registrations for events
sending communications including but not limited to newsletters and information about events and promotions provided by us or third parties
statistical and research purposes
other related purposes.

We may disclose some of the data to third parties such as agencies (including the Hong Kong government), service providers, clients and contractors. This includes transferring data between affiliates.

Where personal data extends to photographs, TSL reserves the right to publish photos submitted to us or taken at events organised or co-organised by us on our websites (including but not limited to social media sites).

We will not disclose any personal data to any external bodies or organisations unless:

(a) Such disclosure is expressly provided for under this Statement;

(b) Permitted to do so by you

Personal data may be stored in our or our affiliates’ database systems.
